Challenge

Disaster information is one of the hardest UX problems: high-stakes, fast-scanning, low-trust environments where a missed hierarchy costs real time. The original Inarisk surface buried the answer in data layers. The redesign had to put the most useful read first without flattening the underlying detail.

Process

  1. 01Step

    Audit

Walked through the existing app like a worried user, not a designer โ€” noted every place the information hierarchy buried the answer.

  2. 02Step

    Reframe

Restructured the surface around three questions: what's happening here, how bad is it, what should I do โ€” in that order, with detail expandable underneath.

  3. 03Step

    Visual system

Built a calmer visual language โ€” clearer typography, better use of color for severity, accessibility-first contrast โ€” so the app reads quickly without panicking the user.

Outcome

A redesign concept that turns Inarisk from a data viewer into something closer to an emergency information tool โ€” same data, restructured around how people read it.
